Don't Touch the Water!

So... We weren't allowed to touch the water. Obviously, I did not violate any rules here. The reason being that the water is toxic and untreated, etc. But our friendly bus tour guide mentioned that it was okay as long as we weren't caught. It was very green water as this picture shows. It was also very warm as it comes from natural underground hot springs. Most interesting of all about this bath is that I was walking on the same stones tread by Romans and Jane Austen! It is a timeless place.

British Culture Events

The football game Fulham vs. Newcastle (both teams are from England). I am wearing a Fulham scarf and (yay!) Fulham won 1 to 0. It was an interesting experience. I'm not much of a football fan, but each team has their own chants that they all sing together. And many people, true fans I would say, stare at the game so intensely that they barely blink or breathe. It was a good experience to learn about the British culture. Most people I've met are more passionate about their sports than their politics!
I went to Bath today, February 11, and I enjoyed my visit. It's a scenic, beautiful town nestled in a valley. The Roman baths were originally built for recreation and health. Later, in the late 1700s, English people came from all over to be "cured" by the natural hot springs there. Bath became a luxury city that the wealthy lived in to get over minor illnesses and relax. There were also many balls and fashionable parties in Bath. It is still a thriving city today with very high property prices and an esteemed university within the city.
